The year 2011 marks the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the United States and the 50th anniversary of the Freedom Rides. The song "America, Land of the Free" is a tribute to all the men and women who have given their lives to the pursuit of freedom, and it is a salute to the women and men in uniform who daily put their lives on the line in the ongoing challenge to keep America free and safe.

"America, Land of the Free" was penned by Austin songwriter Ken Stedman during the weeks immediately following the terrorist attacks on the United States on 9/11/2001. The original version of the song was performed as a solo by national recording artist Chester D.T. Baldwin on July 4, 2002. In 2010, Ken re-worked the song to sharpen the lyrics, change the tempo and clean the melody line to make it more singable. Chester tnen recorded this stunning blend of gospel and patriotic styles.
