Places & Spaces combines the arresting vocals of Anneke Kampman (Conquering Animal Sound – shortlisted for SMIA album of the year award 2011) and the sweeping guitars of Haftor Medbøe (Haftor Medbøe Group). This hour-long song-cycle fuses the sounds of nature with human intervention, the acoustic with the electronic. Rhythmic backings for the nine-song set were recorded in Scottish woodlands using found materials and environmental sounds, with bass provided by a vintage analogue synthesiser. Places and Spaces premiered at the National Gallery of Scotland and Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival in July 2012.
