简介

Liz Moore is a young New York singer and songwriter who has performed at many revered New York music venues. She recently graduated from Barnard College. While there she wrote "The Words Of Every Song", a novel which was released this summer ('07) by Random House and subsequently received many glowing reviews; being chosen by Borders as one of its featured "new authors" releases and also given a three and a half out of four star review by People Magazine. Her music is in the folk/rock genre with a "literary" aura. She has played at the Hudson River Museum as part of their Women in Music series and was selected as a New Artist at the renowned three-day GottaGetGon Festival in upstate New York in 2004. Once leader of her own quartet, the Liz Moore Band, she currently plays solo and has just finished a set of recordings with producer Rob Galbraith. She lives in Brooklyn. Example book review: "Imagine having happened upon Dylan singing in Harvard Square, or having caught one of Joni Mitchell's early shows at an empty club. This is how I felt reading Liz Moore's lyrical and powerful debut novel, like I was witnessing a true and timeless artist on the verge of transcendence. The Words of Every Song is a virtuoso performance. These beautifully rendered characters are melodies that echo in your head, chords that reverberate in your heart, and long after you've turned the last page, you can still hear the audience calling for an encore." - Bret Anthony Johnston, author of Corpus Christi About the book: From a rising singer-songwriter, a sparkling, literate debut novel that brings an insider's touch to its depiction of the music industry and its denizens. The Words of Every Song is a fresh and original novel in the form of fourteen linked episodes, each centered on a particular character involved with the music industry in some fashion. There's the arrogant, self-consciously hip, twenty-six-year-old A&R man; the rising young singer-songwriter; the established, arena-filling rock star on the verge of an early midlife crisis; the type-A female executive with the heavy social calendar and a bit of a habit; the ambitious aspiring rap producer; the virtuoso soundman; and other recognizable figures. Each of these installments offers a sharp, character-driven vignette that eventually resolves into a rich portrait of a self-enclosed society, a fluid but structured world of mortals and musicians. Set in the sleek offices, high-tech recording studios, and grungy downtown clubs of New York, The Words of Every Song offers the pleasure of a convincing authenticity drawn from Liz Moore's own experience as a performer. All of twenty-three years old, she is clearly a rising star, whether seated at a word processor or with a guitar in her hand and the spotlights on.
