What happens when you take a struggling artist out of her comfort zone and throw her into a busy and bustling scene, in a city full of intoxication, art, and wonder, in a country that is historically devastated and devastating? You get Sadder Music.

The title track of this album was the first effort of Orit Shimoni (Little Birdie), to put into words how odd it felt to first arrive in Berlin. It was when this first song was completed that she decided the best thing to do given eight months in Berlin, with no real plan or idea of how to proceed, was to write 9 more songs, play and record them with the local musicians she was working with, and have something to show for herself and her time spent when it was time to go.

Sadder Music, the album, is a collection of musings on cities changing, cultural contrasts and parallels, linear and non-linear time, and of course, love. Unlike most live albums which are versions of songs already recorded in studio, "Sadder Music," contains ten songs that are not on any other recording. Performed live at the Jaegerklause, some solo and some with the other members of the Berlin band, this album captures beautifully the sound and energy of a very magical night.
