简介

"Smooth and fluid guitar playing dominates Dan's 2nd CD. Ashley Bird Cousins is a celebration of the guitar heroes of the 60's(Santana, Clapton, Jeff Beck). It's refreshing to hear an instrumental CD with innovative, yet tasteful guitar work." Brian Bullen, Aerial Flipout Records- "Serious guitar riffing going on over icy-cool rhythms." Kevin Weirzbicki-Campus Circle Please give a listen to multi-instrumentalist Dan Cox and his second CD offering: 'Ashley Bird Cousins'. This is the definition of Do It Yourself technology as Dan plays all instruments, recorded, mastered, produced and even packaged his CD from his home recording studio."I did use Larry, my beloved drum machine...but he does have soul." When Dan was in a band in the late 60's/early 70's he met through a fellow band mate, Ashley Bird Cousins. She had cerebral palsy along with many other problems. What astonished everyone who came into contact with Ashley was her happy, always laughing disposition. "She literally brightened up your day" Dan explains. "I have never forgotten her and this CD is dedicated to her and everyone she touched". As with his first CD, Dan likes every song to be different. His opening song is Mazatlan which has a rich latin-jazz feel to it. Followed by the title track, Ashley Bird Cousins, has a definite Bollywood feel to it. "I really had Jeff Beck in mind when I wrote this song. I had the pleasure of seeing him at The Royal Albert Hall in London and he just blew me away. This guy speaks with his guitar. Just amazing." Dan also covered Sunshine Of Your Love with a reggae-jazz appeal which came out great. All the other songs including Sweet Loretta Blues, One Man, Wet On The Neck and Three O'Clock Slop-uh oh have the instrumental influences that Dan holds close to his heart. "The guitarists that have influenced me and that I still listen to are: Jan Akkerman, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Steve Lukather, Domonic Triano, Richie Blackmore, Keith Richards, Jimi & Stevie Ray..." "My goal at my age is just to keep on playing and making some good music. Keeps me out of trouble. I wouldn't mind one of my songs on a movie soundtrack though!"
