简介

Clear Blue Betty performs energetic Midwestern rock n' roll, featuring the intelligent lyrics of frontwoman Beth Kille. Fans and critics alike are addicted to their original songs that feature a mix of funk, rock, and blues guitars and intelligent, upbeat lyrics. They have played at over 40 venues since forming in late 2002, including some of Wisconsin's top original-music joints: Luther's Blues, the High Noon Saloon, and The Annex in Madison; Tom's Garage in Appleton; Titletown Brewery and the Main Stage in Green Bay; the Milwaukee Ale House in Milwaukee, and many more. Music critic el guante of the Madison Observer (April '04) writes, "The band's music is refreshing for its simplicity; not a blunt, unpolished plainness, but a full, very mature sound that is at once unique and strangely familiar. The band plays with so much skill and, more importantly, personality that it's hard not to feel your inner cynic melting away..." Clear Blue Betty's first full-length album release, Never Been a Rebel, the 2005 Madison Area Music Award for Best Rock Album, captures a piece of the wide range of dynamics and varied musical styles that they bring to each show. From the straightforward guitar riffs inspired by the movie "A Beautiful Mind" ("Keep Me Away from Myself"), to the ideal pop hook about taking advantage of opportunities ("Go Back"); from the sweet love ballad ("Where Love Lives"), to Beth's bluesy theme song ("Gravity"), the band brings an optimistic and female-influenced bent to the rock n' roll scene. With over 4 hours of original music to their credit and a repertoire of classic rock favorites (AC/DC, Lynrd Skynrd, Clapton) at their fingertips, Clear Blue Betty continues to entertain patrons at venues large and small throughout the Midwest. Although the group has only been together for a short time, Clear Blue Betty features an experienced and eclectic lineup of musicians who have performed for a wide variety of audiences. Wisconsin music fans may recognize front woman Beth Kille as the two-time drum major for the popular UW-Madison Marching Band, becoming only the second female to lead the group in its 110-year history. She then played a variety of instruments and sang for the area group Watershed before leaving to focus on her own original music. Her husband, Tony, was hired to play the drums and local performer and friend, Rob Koth, quickly joined to add a lead/electric guitar. The lineup was finalized with the addition of Doug Sies, a 30-year veteran of the music scene, who moved from playing rhythm guitar to bass in order to join Beth and Clear Blue Betty. With accolades pouring in after each show, the band is well on its way to fulfilling one fan's eager prediction, "Clear Blue Betty's music is addictive to the soul... This band not only has the potential to be one of the top bands to come out of WI, but their CD could find its way into every household."
