Best known for his use of the human voice's extremes, his pieces fuse the classic traditions of opera with storytelling practices of the modern theatre. He has written and developed several original musicals, including PYRE CANTATA (HERE Arts Center) a rock opera based on the Antigone story, IRL: A Slenderman Musical (Theatre for a New Audience), The Lobotomist (Ars Nova), Dentionicide (Future of Storytelling Festival), and Piano Bar (Joe's Pub) with the late composer, director, and theatre visionary Elizabeth Swados. Off Broadway, Bachman has arranged, orchestrated, and musically directed world premieres of DUAT (SoHo Rep), A Fable (Rattlestick/Cherry Lane), The Nomad (Flea), Times Square (The Public Theatre/Civilians), and the music of Grammy-winning songwriter Diane Warren with Broadway producer Dede Harris. His concert and theatre pieces have been performed internationally in Abu Dhabi, London, Tokyo, and Istanbul. A teaching artist, Trevor has worked with over a thousand young people to create and perform original songs based on their unique stories.
