简介
From the calypso influenced “Deserted Sand” written on a lifeguard tower in a fit of unrequited love at age fifteen to “My Love Song” written just before this album release, “Do it in the Name of Love” represents part of a musical biography written in love, passion, and filled with a social conscience. Songs like “Color Blind”, “Native Son”, “Jesus Wasn’t Hungry”, and “Tin Soldier” reflect Mister Link’s social conscience and questioning, while songs like “I’ll Take You Away”, “I’m Crazy”, and the country-influenced “My Love Song” mirror aspects of relationship and love. “Deserted Sand” and “Photoshop Girlfriend” are two different takes on unrequited love with a very different solution to lost love in each. “Sixteen Tons” is Mister Link’s take on Merle Travis’s classic lament of hard times and unforgiving employment giving it a new funky, jazz-rock feel: still a reminder that every generation faces trial and tribulation in a harsh world. Most of the album is Rock with an often classic feel, but you’ll find a touch of blues in songs like “That’s Life” and even some big band swing in the bonus track: “Swingin’ Christmas”. As Mister Link’s bio says, “I am of no time, I am of every time.”
