It was my first attempt at recording music for an improvising ensemble. I assembled my favorite saxophone player in Chicago Chris Greene, along with a great bassist I had been checking out Patrick Williams, and phenomenal drummer (and big brother to me) Billy Hoffman. I wrote music about the things I was seeing and experiencing around me every day and every composition had a story. It was the beginning of a time of political awarness for me and I felt the most effective way I could explore and express my feelings and views was through this ensemble.
