The band Whiskey Train formed in Medford, NJ, in June of 2006, when vocalist/guitarist Kenny Curcio decided to put some songs he had written on CD. Instead of recording himself with a guitar, he opted to bring in some instrumental help to give his musical ideas more depth. Kenny found assistance in multi-talented piano/percussion player Johnny DeAngelis. At a very young age, Johnny played several years in his fathers cover band, and his passion for music was unmistakable. After recording a six song demo, and receiving vast positive feedback, they decided to form a band and continue to write their own music. In July of 2006, lead guitar player, and former jazz musician, Dominic Grosso was asked to join the band. Dom was enthused by the idea, and his excitement and unique style of play instantly gelled with the newly born sound that was coming to be. But there were still two pieces missing. In mid August of 2006 the finishing touch emerged; Bart Riley on drums, and Brett Riley on bass. Found through a mutual friend, the twin brothers added the backbone they were looking for. Having experience playing in successful bands and being musically gifted added an element that was nothing short of rock solid. The sound of Whiskey Train starts with their two lead vocals. Kenny's rugged voice combined with Johnny's softer tone instantly creates a unique sound. When you add in Dom's explosive guitar riffs, Brett's complex counter melodies on bass with Bart's solid grooves on drums, you get a band that could jam for hours or is equally capable of crafting a head bouncing radio single or a touching ballad. The finishing touches are provided by Johnny's piano, Kenny's rhythm guitar and the full band on harmonies. Once you hear Whiskey Train, you'll know why this is a band that has begun to generate a grassroots buzz that will only continue to grow. With their own sound in place, Whiskey Train will continue to write, perform and record their own music. The main goal of the band is for people to have as much fun listening to their music and watching them perform as they do writing, recording and performing it themselves.
