简介
Six years after his acclaimed CD, In This Place, Jeff's long-awaited new album includes 20 new and traditional songs, (solo and with band), with guest appearances by Debbie Friedman, Dan Freelander, jazz-harp wizard Howard Levy, and Klezmer superstars Ilene Stahl and Evan Harlan! Digitally recorded at concerts from 1991 to 2002 (and featuring his new hit song, 'Rabbi Ben Bag-Bag'), Jeff Klepper Live in Concert spotlights Jeff's instant bonding with audiences from the American Heartland to Boston to the Borsht Belt, with all the wit and warmth you expect from Kol B'seder's founder and one of the originators of contemporary Jewish-American music! ----- "Jewish Alchemy - mix one part Bob Dylan, add some Beatles, a little James Taylor, a dash of Weird Al, throw in some Yiddish, a big heap of joy and loads of Torah and you get something totally original - Jeff Klepper." Rabbi Gary Bretton-Granatoor Stephen Wise Free Synagogue New York City ----- JEFF KLEPPER is a cantor and composer of some of the first Jewish-American rock hits, including "Shalom Rav" and "Lo Alecha." He has performed alongside Theo Bikel, Peter Yarrow, Debbie Friedman and the late Shlomo Carlebach. He records as a solo artist and with Dan Freelander in their duo, Kol B'seder (named as one of the top Jewish music groups by Moment Magazine.) Raised in New York City, Jeff began to play the guitar at age eight. Influenced by Pete Seeger, Bob Dylan, and the Beatles, Klepper helped to create a new style of song-leading and composition in Jewish camps and youth groups beginning in the late 1960s. He made his first recording of Jewish songs at 17 and has been composing ever since. Over the past three decades, Jeff has combined folk, rock, jazz and world-music sounds with Hebrew texts and original English lyrics to create a new and unique Jewish musical style. His services are celebrations of the Jewish spirit. His concerts are warm and joyous happenings. Jeff lives in Boston, MA, where he teaches, composes and performs full time, as a solo artist, with klezmer, rock and jazz musicians and, of course, with Kol B'seder. He presents workshops on Jewish Humor, Music and Healing, Worship and Spirituality, and the (Jewish) Music of Bob Dylan.
