简介
J TEMP 13 is the solo moniker of John Templeman, President and Founder of Jib Machine Records and 13 Recordings. Thanks to the influence of his parents who were in a rock band together, Templeman began his musical journey while still very young. He was performing live by age six and penning original songs by age ten. John then spent most of his teens and 20s in various bands, but he finally released NYC Acoustic Demos/Restoration, a collection of solo songs he recorded with producer Bryan Smith, in 2004. However, the first J TEMP 13 album did not appear until 2008’s Girard, named after Templeman’s hometown. Over the next few years, he would go on to self-produce and engineer three more J TEMP 13 albums, an experimental electronica album under the name The Penfield Experience and multiple tracks for various independent movies (The Slasher, On the North Coast, Demon’s Odyssey) and short films (Independence Day, Undead Fred) in his home studio. Then, at the start of 2014, he began recording his Self-titled EP with long-time friend and collaborator, Brandon Youngs. The result was an album described as having a 70s rock vibe with a fresh twist drawing on influences from Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Neil Young. After re-recording an acoustic version of a previously released track ("Mae"), Templeman had a burst of creativity and continued writing and recording acoustic tracks with Youngs throughout the first half of 2016. After paring down the recordings to five lean, cohesive tracks, Templeman was left with Phat Halo Blue, a raw, honest acoustic EP with songs that adopt a storytelling philosophy similar to the likes of Bruce Springsteen and Ed Sheeran. Features guest appearances by Eli "Guitarman" Fletcher, Philomena Gales, Doug Moldovan and Brandon Youngs.
