While singing with a male group, BAC II BAC, Wheelman Andrews had the opportunity to open for many major artists such as Brian McKnight, Aaron Hall, Horace Brown, and After 7. They later went on to win 5 times at the Amateur Night at the famed Apollo Theatre. However, Wheelman was being drawn into a new direction and left the group in 1999. Wheelman continued to write many songs, most with R&B flavor but he could not hide from his true calling. Being the son of the late Bishop Garland Andrews and Pastor Hazel Andrews, his roots were buried deep into the church. Wheelman, the youngest of six children, had to make a decision…he chose to sing for God. Today, Wheelman brings to us a mix of hip-hop, soul, reggae, with gospel flavor or as he calls “R&P” aka “Rhythm and Praise”. Wheelman uses his lyrics to tell stories that in many ways mimic the different periods of his life. His music is uplifting and inspiring with the ultimate goal of reaching souls for Christ.
