简介
Robin's fourth album took nearly the same amount time to make as his first three put together; he's sure the time was worth it and we're sure you'll agree. Made in east London on a boat with a guitar, the songs have been gently infused with violin and accordion and given a light sprinkling of angelic backing vocals and ukulele with the odd percussive tinkle and other musical joys. The core band is Basia Bartz on violin, Caitlin Roberts on accordion and Candy Parfitt on backing vocal, with guests Iain Macleod contributing guitar to the title track and Tara Franks adding cello goodness to 'Joanna'. Joe Allen adds an occasional dusty layer of drums to some tracks; we'll let you work out which ones for yourself. Lots of the recording was done at Abbot Street Studios in Dalston under the watchful gaze of Jimmy Friend, the rest took place in Dalston Culture House. No beards or moustaches were grown or harmed in the making of this album. Here are some nice things said about Robin's previous recordings: “Robin Grey will not need to do too much to prove himself an incendiary artist in the world of folk music. There is literature in his words and his calmly exquisite mannerisms seem to bring you back to a simpler time and place.” Fensepost “Robin Grey has a lovely fresh approach to the folk genre. A honeyed yet clear voice and his lyrics are arresting. A real treasure.” The Londonist “Grey is one of those wonderful talents that could recite the phone directory on record and you’d still be enthralled.” Another Form of Relief
