Si*Sé专辑介绍：by John BushFor their debut, Si*Sé, a futurist collective of musicians with ties to clubland and hip-hop as well as traditional Latin forms, produced a strikingly bland record, that is very predictable and full of production textures and dreamy vocals that never quite arrange themselves into songs. The production is a melange of superficially post-modern sounds and styles: strummed Spanish guitar and nimble percussion competing with light background scratching and beats that are slightly heavier than people not used to dance music are used to. Frontwoman Carol C. has a strong voice, but usually just assumes the correct pose of languorous soul; the programming touches by DJ/producer U.F.LOW are solid but uninspiring; and the cuts with a full band (percussion, viola, bass) are well-played but also predictable. Only the updated cover of an old-school nugget ("The Rain" by Oran "Juice" Jones) stands up to repeated listens. All in all, Si*Sé barely even registers as background club music for those not into club music.
