RAINSTAR are a six piece who hail from Portsmouth, England . They write songs that drive home a big, powerful sound, laced with soaring chorus's and memorable melodies all delivered with their distinct sound derived from the fields of rock, pop and indie. Lead singer Gary Anderson's vocals and lyrics convey RAINSTAR's passion for writing songs that appeal across the board whilst the rest of the band all contribute to each finished track. Ian Chisham provides piano and keyboards with Warren Bailey and Glen Carey adding lead, rhythm and acoustic guitars. Ed Bristow and Neil Curtis lay down the driving rhythm section playing bass guitar and drums respectively. The passion within RAINSTAR's songs really comes to fruition in their live performance leaving audiences on a high with their memorable hook-lines and inspired arrangements. "We are all passionate about writing songs that work well live on stage as well as on record. What made you decide to form a band ? Rainstar were formed in the summer of 2003. Three members of Rainstar were in an established band mainly playing covers, and we decided to form a band writing our own material. The three other members of Rainstar were drafted in to complete the line up. At some point or other all members of Rainstar have worked with each other in previous bands, basically it has been a case of picking the best elements from previous bands. As a six-piece band there are many different influences that add to the flavour of the end product. No that's all Bull we met down the clinic! 2. What are your Influences ? Each member have their own influences which are wide and varied, these influences include, Ed Kowalski, Jeff Buckley, U2, Pino Pallodino, Elvis, Kirk Brandon, and lots of others, the list is endless. 3. Modern artists do you rate ? Keane, The Doves, U2, Live, The Music, Snow Patrol, Muse, Audioslave, Velvet Revolver, and Glens rates ..... Tony Hart ? 4. If you could record a song with any artist, who would it be and why? Different answers from different members. U2 Greatest band of all time. Adam Doritz Great songwriter/singer. Glen Tillbrook ? Kirk Brandon Passionate performer/singer/songwriter. 5. What's your inspiration to write music ? Rainstar are very passionate about playing live, there is a great love of performing and to receive appreciation from an audience when you are playing your own material is the ultimate buzz. 6. What Instruments do you use ? Roland Keyboards, Overwater Progress5 , Fender Strat, Ibanez acoustic, les Paul, Gretsch, Tama. 8.What are your Ambitions Headline Glastonbury, tour the world, be successful recording artists, to bring pleasure to as many people as possible, appear on I'm a celebrity ? 9. People are very passionate about there music there seems to be three categories when describing music. You love it, take it or leave it, or you hate it. There hasn't been any artist that everybody has loved, you just try to appeal to as many people as you can, and with our album we feel that there is something for everybody, hopefully! 10. Where was your briliant debut album " Ockham's Razor" recorded and produced ? We trawled through many studios trying to capture the sound that we produce live, which proved to be very difficult, the final tracks were taken from 811 studios in Cowfold, Surrey (engineered by Glover), Highbury College in Portsmouth (engineered by Bob Ross) and the live tracks were recorded at the Wedgewood Rooms in Portsmouth recorded and engineered by Phil Shenton. 11.
