Trevor Tanner专辑介绍：by Stewart MasonThe last in a series of three interconnected CDs all released on the same day (available singly and as a limited-edition box set), Belch is the closest to the sound of Trevor Tanner's cult-favorite- '80s band the Bolshoi. These are smooth, classy pop songs of a style that just screams Great Britain in the '80s, even though they were recorded in America some years later: tasteful synthesizers stretch out behind prominent acoustic guitars, and Tanner sings in a mature, mellow croon even on the more spirited tunes. The overall effect is closer to the quirkier edge of Prefab Sprout or Deacon Blue than the more faceless, manicured likes of Dire Straits or Chris de Burgh, but it's at a point on that continuum. The songs are the strongest here of all three albums, with the dreamily romantic "Chinese Whispers" and the Go-Betweens-like folk-rock urgency of "Mr. Ease and Miss Trust" particularly standing out. For the merely curious, the unfortunately-titled Belch is the best single-disc starting point in the trio.
