简介
The Trumpets of Joy (TOJ) is a traditional gospel quartet that originated 1962 in the steel working town of Aliquippa, Pennsylvania by founder, William "Shorty" Freeman. When William Freeman passed the group was passed down to his son Pastor Joe Louis Freeman, Sr. and the group has continued lifting up the name of Jesus. The group has three of the original members, which is the following lead singers: Elder Joe L. Freeman, Sr. (80), Deacon Babe Lott(86), and Deacon Roscoe Peake, Sr.(86). Also, the group has third generation members of the Freeman Family (Joe L. Freeman, Jr., A. Glenn Freeman, and Nicole Freeman) and along with the rest of the members (Elder Michael Kirkland, Chris Good, Sr.). The group has traveled to Indiana, Ohio, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, Kentucky, Indiana, and North Carolina. Trumpets of Joy opened up for Stellar Award Nominees contemporary gospel group, “Ministree” at their contract signing. Also, TOJ opened up for the Blind Boys of Mississippi during the summer of 2012 at the Black Heritage Gospel Festival in Wheeling, WV. Throughout this journey many have been called home to live with the Lord and the group has revamped and added some new school flavor with the old school tradition, which has created a vision to record and minister throughout. Leads Deacon Lott, Roscoe Peake, Sr., and Elder Freeman have an everlasting energy to let the world know that Jesus lives. May 2010 TOJ released their first CD entitled, “Come on Here!” With songs such as: “Thank You Jesus”, “He Won’t Leave You Alone”, “Whatsoever You Need”, “Rest for the Weary”, and “On Wings of Love” is just a few that have that quartet flavor that makes you clap your hands and stomp your feet. TOJ attended the National Quartet Convention (www.natqc.com) September 10, 2012 in Louisville, Kentucky and sang in the new artist showcase. Singing in the National Quartet Convention was definitely an eye opening experience, which was very positive for the group. TOJ is trying to build a bridge within the southern gospel music and traditional gospel music ministries. The NQC is a great place with such southern gospel artists as the Gaither Vocal Band, Jason Crabb, The Crabb Family, The Hoppers, The Isaacs, The Martins, and etc. In 2014 TOJ went in the woodshed practicing and preparing for their sophomore project entitled, “Love Lifted Me”, and in November singles such as, “How Great Thou Art”, “If You Make One Step”, “Crossroads of Life”, “Love Lifted Me”, and “Nothing but the Blood”, were released. Also, the group submitted their single, “Nothing but the Blood” to First Choice Gospel Records, and it was chosen to be on a compilation CD entitled, “Trailblazers of Quartet – Volume I.” The CD was released August 22, 2015. The Trumpets of Joy mission statement is that they have been called to the ministry of music to praise His name, cry loud, encourage, and proclaim the goodness of the Lord. Their ministry is for those in the body of Christ to remain steadfast and to tell those outside that Jesus saves. MINISTRY FIRST! Contact: A.
