简介
Lady Lazarus has been described as “punk-classical piano.” She is Risen is her first album. All music and lyrics for Lady Lazarus are written, performed, and produced by Noelle Levy. Noelle began studying classical piano at the age of 4. She began writing her own songs at the age of 5. In 1991 she heard Tori Amos’ Little Earthquakes and decided there was more to piano than Mozart and Bach. However, she has continued to study and teach classical piano, and has also been trained as an opera singer. Using her musical training and relying on her influences in folk, hard rock, and piano, she developed her own style of confessional songwriting, based in a folk tradition but enhanced by computer generated sounds. Her music has been lauded as “soul-shine for dark times” by Chronicle. As a poet, Noelle’s work appears in the print journals Caesura, Bombay Gin, Solid Quarter American Drivel Review, Fear Knocks, and Summer Stock. Her work can be found on the web at Spent Meat, Laika Poetry Review, Catalyzer Journal, and Fear Knocks. Noelle’s main interests as a writer and songwriter are sexual abuse, anti-war and pacifist action, and the rights of women around the world. You can hear these sentiments in such songs as “When the Cows Come Home” and “Arise.”
