Rick Parnell is a Canadian singer/songwriter pursuing his passion for song. The music sprouts from the very roots of the Folk-Rock tradition and then subtly suggests new directions. Introspective and captivating, his songs most frequently evoke comparisons to Dylan, Leonard Cohen, and George Harrison. John Lennon and Johnny Cash are influences that also arise when describing Rick's vocal and song writing style ... Complex yet catchy lyrical phrases, solid melodies and impressionistic storytelling. Beginning in 2008, Rick Parnell indulged his lifelong passion for music and has been composing and performing since. With the discipline and resilience of a man who found his calling, he impressed musician/producer Graham Ronne who offered to make a few demos. The success of those demos and Parnell's obvious artistic rapport led to the completion of Rick’s first six-song EP. As a broader audience discovered Rick's music, the first full album took shape. A dedicated family man, in 2010 Rick began collaborating with his talented (then sixteen-year-old) son, Hart. Aided by a second producer and recording engineer, Ian Lopez, Rick began production of his first full length CD, (“Imperfect Beauty)” released in May of 2011. In December of 2012 another full album of original songs ("Next Time Around") was released by the newly formed Rick Parnell Band and distributed digitally through CD Baby. Rick has proven to be a prolific song writer and lyricist and his third full release ("Until the Dawn) is scheduled for a November 2016 release and the songs for a 2017 release have been written.
