My music is created from a spiritual point of view; I get melody lines, and usually build on them; and in most cases have to wait to complete the songs; at least until the completion is spiritually given to me. Sometimes I hear a melody line when I'm rehearsing my songs; and from there another song is born, usually hotter than the one I'm rehearsing. Another method that I use is brain storming; with both lyric & music, which creates new ideas that are usually finished off at a later time. I also write songs to fit a certain occasion. At this point and time; keeping up with the Billboard transactions, and listening to the newest releases, as well as the songs in the top 10 charts, also gives me a starting point for writing material; kind of like keeping up with the latest. Shirley & I have set around on several occasions having conversations while rehearsing; from which songs are thought of, and if it's good, we later pursue the idea, usually until a song is born. I also can set down and just write a song; for example, if I were given an assignment, I could certainly complete it without a problem. Writing music is something that just comes natural. I actually write full arrangements; most of my material is hand written; this includes: bass, horns, strings, keyboards, drums, and any other part that I would consider using. Music has been a part of my life all of my life; and I love it. Shirley M. Jackson was born with Rhythm; she is a natural; and has a style of her own. She is a fun person to work with; and she catches on fast. Her preference exceeds this current CD, and she looks forward to sharing more of herself with her fans. The song Countrygirl is actually about her, and growing up with her family members; and she looks forward to sharing more of herself in the future.
