简介
Genres: Alternative, Rock Released: Mar 20, 2001 2007 Tappersize On the one hand, Treat Me to Some Life is Lenola's best record yet, refracting their kaleidoscopic noise pop through the prism of increasingly ambitious melodies and layer upon layer of sonic ingenuity; on the other, not only does the disc do absolutely nothing to shake off the Flaming Lips and Mercury Rev comparisons of the past, if anything it further entrenches the band's debt to their influences. So although it's tough to knock a band with such impeccable musical taste, it's equally difficult to recommend Treat Me to Some Life wholeheartedly — while cuts like I Don't Mean ape the classic dream pop sound more perfectly than any band since the Lilys, even Lenola's strongest songs pale in comparison to their inspirations. Even at its best, the album just brings to mind better records — assuming you've already got Yerself Is Steam or Hit to Death in the Future Head in your collection, there's no real point in accepting a substitute.
