简介
On Monday 15th, 2013, Stephen Randall went with his son, daughter and father to watch the Boston Marathon runners run past his road in Wellesley, roughly at the halfway point of the race. The third Monday of April was normally one of his favorite days of the year. It marks the real start of Spring. The blossoms are just coming out, neighbors and friends meet to eat BBQ and cheer the spirit of thousands of runners. Of course the 2013 Boston marathon will be remembered for something else, namely the twin bombings near the finish line that killed three people and wounded more than 170. Stephen Randall wrote We Will Run Again in the aftermath of the bombings as a show of strength for Boston and the communities affected. His lyrics were inspired by the moving speech given by President Obama at the interfaith healing service at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Boston, Thursday, April 18, 2013. Randall posted a version of the song on Soundcloud a few days after the bombings. A passionate and supportive SoundCloud community of writers, musicians and singers from all over the world submitted vocals to join Randall's. Sacha Pfeiffer and her team at NPR's All Things Considered picked up on the story. Before long, the Boston Arts Academy Sprituals Ensemble adding their beautiful gospel chorus joined by Wellesley High School's Keynote singers. By the end of the song, Randall's daughter's vocals can be heard soaring over more than a hundred voices. One year on, we stand, we walk and yes, we run again. 100% of the proceeds will go to the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings.
