VIDEO - SO LONG (Bonus Track) http://www.legacylive.com/solong.wmv Legacy's CD was mixed and produced by Marten Andersson and Jonas Hansson at Mastergroove Studio's in Granada Hills, California, with the assistance of Mastergroove studio owner Dave Morse (Aerosmith, Guns 'N Roses, Van Halen and Warrant). ============================== REVIEWS ============================== The self-titled debut album has received wonderful reviews so far and is described as "addictive, in-your-face hard rock." Metalvault.com Legacy - 11 Tracks - Snake City Music BY: Lanman Rating: 4 of 5 Possibly one of the best Metal records I will hear this year. Bassist Marten Andersson has a kick a** bunch musicians here pounding out some killer Metal. Its been along time since some real LA Metal hit the scene. Songs like troubleshooter, Tool, Autumn Rising, Mission Of Mercy and My Last Sunrise stand tall in the mix. This is a pure raging Metal album with blistering vocals and sonic fury. Marten Andersson also moonlights for Lizzy Borden so for sure he definitely had what it takes only he calls the shots in Legacy. Metal heads wake up one of the best has arrived and it's right here in the good ole U.S.A! ======================================== Metal Exiles - CD REVIEW Legacy S/T By Jeff/skinwalker Legacy is a band that should come out to superstardom. Armed with a great cd full of incredible tunes that has finally surfaced in America, they have exactly what it takes to be huge! The cd was originally released in Japan a few years ago and it took an indy like SCM to give everyone a chance to own it. The members are impressive also, featuring Marten Andersson of Lizzy Borden and Lynch Mob fame, Jonas Hansson Of the group Silver Mountain, Chris Rosenberry of Lost Breed and other projects and world class drummer Stephan Emig. The music itself is a riveting display of intense power mixed with ear catching melody, a true rarity these days. Opening with several powerful cuts like the heavy, full throttle Trouble Shooter and Underdog, this cd grabs you by the throat and does not let go. Slowing down for a moment is Autumn Rising and Can't Remember Love, two very cool songs that really show the singers awesome range and control of his vox . There are also 3 great instrumentals featured on this disc, 2.4.1, Astral Sundown and the beautiful closer, Thank You, which all really highlight just how great these musicians really are. If you are in the mood for something that is really different from the norm, you want this cd. I really feel that this is an incredible disc! ======================================== Review By Kman - CD Smash Legacy "Self Titled" Genera: Metal Legacy features Marten Andersson who also plays bass for Metal Blade recording artist Lizzy Borden/George Lynch and guitarist Jonas Hansson a Roadrunner Records recording artist (Alcatraz, Silver Mountain and the Jonas Hansson Band). There are so many great licks here that it will leave a blister on your stereo speakers! The songs are heavy, bluesy & aggressive in places and melodic in others. The disc starts out with a killer tune called "Troubleshooter" that has an Iron Maiden feel, than carries the same pace until the 4th song "Autumn Rising", where the band shines I think. The song starts out slow and kicks in with a really strong 80's influenced chorus (see DOKKEN). Vocalist Chris Roseberry has a style similar to Tony Harnell (TNT), and guitarist Jones Is somewhere between Rickie Blackmore and Malmsteen in style. There are a few Instrumentals on the disc that show off the bands talents and a couple slower tunes but all in all the band rocks! The influences I hear are, Savatage & Rainbow. Favorite Songs: "Troubleshooter", "Autumn Rising" & "Mission Of Mercy". Website: www.legacylive.com ======================================== Bassplay.com CD Review "My adoration now lies true with Legacy, a powerful and explosive talent who will wear well with the changing times of musical expectations with a diverse range of well written material." -By Bratgirl- bassplay.com ======================================== 101.9 Fargo, North Dakota - Rock and a Hardplace" Radio show Great stuff! Very very cool, Excellent! Excellent! Great stuff!!" ======================================== Knac.com The songs are carefully crafted (a good blend of melody, musicianship, songwriting and go for the throat attitude) and well executed. The album starts off with a 1-2-3 punch of great rockers. Album mixes original ideas with odes to Metallica, Yngwie, etc Great stuff! Very very cool, Excellent! Excellent! Great stuff!!" ======================================== Music Director - WCRC 104 FM – NH Legacy is a new unsigned band we have been playing here on our station WCRC 104 FM. These guys rock from the opening track Trouble Shooter to the closer of "Thank You" this CD rocks. Its like Malmsteen meets Krokus meets nothing you ever heard before I high octane metal fest "Troubleshooter" the rocking balls to wall track gets lots of feedback but the most request come in for track #4 "Autumn Rising" a very Dio sounding ballad in the beginning then opens up into a rockin climax. I give this on a scale of one to ten (ten being the best) a easy 9 and the only reason i give it a nine is i never give a ten only twice in my radio career listen to Legacy on "The Witching Hour" every Saturday night on WCRC 104 FM in New Hampshire ======================================== Rockhead.DE Legacy/Legacy - 90% Genre – Melodic Power Metal Label – Snake City Music Featuring members from bands such as Lizzy Borden, Silver Mountian, Alcatraz, Jonas Hansson Band And Joy Basu, we are of to something very promising and Legacy does deliever power metal genre as such bands as Annihilator and Savatage, but these great bands does sometimes lack in the melodies. Legacy is here to fill that out with a record with more teeth in it. Take a track as Mission Of Mercy with it’s groove fill power drive and all over great performance from each member, it’s for sure to be the albums best track and a track to kick you so far up from the sofa, that you won’t get the chance to say amen. My thoughts are lead onto another great band that were around sometime ago, when I'm listen to the whole cd - it’s Saints & Sinners. There are a lot of similarities to them in how the drive is been put into the cd. Just one thing don’t expect to get a band just like Saints & Sinners, because Legacy is a band for themselves with their own suscribtion in how to make music. Do visite them at www.legacylive.com for more info on the band. ======================================== Legacy CD review by loudmetal.com LEGACY - LEGACY SNAKE CITY MUSIC High octane guitar based metal band from Los Angeles that feature former members of Lizzy Borden, Lynch Mob, Jonas Hansson Band, Silver Mountain, Alcatraz, Dio etc. The album features eleven tracks some of which remind me of Blue Murder, Thin Lizzy, Crimson Glory, Dokken, Nazareth etc, so what we get is band that plays surprisingly good 80's style rock and metal. Check out 'Tool' which is a brilliant song that just bounces along with stomping, bulging riffs and a great chorus in the vein of Dokken. 'Autumn Rising' is a smoldering classic rock track which starts off as a ballad before bursting into a Badlands meets Dokken meets TNT catchy melodic rocker. Vocalist Chris Roseberry has an amazing voice similar to Tony Harnell and Don Dokken which can be powerful and also very subtle. This particular song is one of my favorites which also have some very cool twin guitar parts. Of the musicians appearing on this record we get famed guitar player Joy Basu, Marten Andersson (bassist with Lizzy Borden, Lynch Mob etc), guitarist/keyboardist Jonas Hansson who you may remember from Silver Mountain and Alcatraz and drummer Stephen Emig. All this makes for a very powerful release, with songs such as the excellent Dokken inspired 'Mission Of Mercy' giving the band an edge that should see this album selling well to fans of this genre. 'Mission Of Mercy' is very catchy as is 'Troubleshooter', the bluesy stomping Ozzy-ish 'Leave It Alone', the ballad 'Can't Remember Love', the guitar pumping 'My Last Sunrise' and the instrumental pieces '2.4.1', 'Astral Sundown' and the Jason Becker/Marty Friedman inspired 'Thank You' all make for what will hopefully become one of the most talked about bands of 2001. (by Nick Baldrian) ======================================== Hardradio.com The CD is awesome! very cool stuff! Check it out. ======================================== BASS INSIDE CD REVIEW Legacy - Legacy 2003, SCM Records Bassist: Marten Andersson First off, there is good-hearted humor ahead, so if you are too brittle to 'get it', that's your problem, not mine. This kind of guy I hate! Killer bassist, he's played in a great band like Lizzy Borden, Lynch Mob and has opened for or headlined with the likes of Deep Purple, Dio, Motorhead, Wasp, King's X, Alice Cooper, Yngwie Malmsteen & Firehouse and sounds like he could or has played in any and all of them. A model and an actor and the author of a music directory. The list of acheivements just goes on, until all I can do is cry or just laugh at the absurity of how ordinary your own life is. The rest of the band are a bunch of over-achievers, too. The album is just what you would expect from a group of heavy metal monsters. Hot songs, great solos, a lot of strutting, the usual stuff, well played. For the genre they dance in, they are as good as it can get. Grrrr. ======================================== hotmetalradio.com Well executed, carefully crafted , this album combines a good blend of melody and go for the throat attitude. Songs like “Tool” and Autumn Rising” stand tall in the mix. Add to that, “Thank You”, the Jason Becker/Marty Friedman inspired ballad, will make Legacy one of the most talked about bands of the Millennium. ======================================== Rocknet Webzine I'm familiar with Marten Andersson playing bass for Lizzy Borden and Lynch Mob and this was my first taste of him outside of Lizzy Borden. He has a band called Legacy and they are definitely a talented bunch. Marten seems to be the main lyricist in the band and the songs are well written. I love the guitar riffs and there's definitely some top notch technical playing. The vocalist has a nice range. "Mission Of Mercy" and "My Last Sunrise" are my favorite tracks on this CD. The album overall is very heavy and very melodic with a couple of really nice ballads on it. There are some very cool instrumentals on the album with "2.4.1" being my favorite out of that bunch. Definitely a very cool album. ======================================== Strutter Magazine CD Review This LA based band is definitely one to check out as soon as possible, because this is music from a very high quality. This LEGACY is a big recommendation worth. ======================================== Legacy CD Review by Electric Basement LEGACY - Legacy (Snake City Music) Legacy is a mini-supergroup composed of band members who have worked with such notable acts as Lizzy Borden, Lynch Mob, Silver Mountain, Alcatraz and others. And yes, you guessed it, this is very reminiscent of straight ahead melodic brimstone ripped from the highlights of upper level Armored Saint, Chroming Rose and a pinch of Queensryche. Simmering, gnarly guitar riffs and pensive, yet forceful harmonies garner the same kind of second glance the better metal acts used to. A classic moniker for sure, and the music follows suit. Sort of a smallish, earthier version of early 'Ryche in general demeanor. But things get a loftier expression at times, as with "Autumn Rising", a sophisticated piece that kicks back and forth between cries of anguish and introspective dabblings. "Mission of Mercy" has one of those wicked, bone crushing late 80s riffs Tesla and the like used to milk with expertise. Very nice. While all members are contributing to the tight yet hooky environment, nothing beats a killer vocalist to make it all worth while. And Chris Roseberry is the man here. All though he isn't particularly unique, I can't readily think of a comparison. Nonetheless, his muscular range and mature restraint cinch this band as a veteran mindset building upon collective wisdom. While some of the tracks don't live up to others, the overall vibe and execution is a solid to excellent tribute to what makes modern metal (not "nu metal!") a long standing, legitimate force. This is the style of music that will sound good ten years from now. ======================================== OBLIVION-magazine – CD Review They (Legacy) sound very experienced and professional. The music is powerful and very melodic US-Metal. The best heavy tracks are "Tool" or "Underdog". The instrumental song "2.4.1" is a total blast and has lots of harmony. ======================================== STRIKE MAGAZINE – CD Review Heavy sound with a well placed guitar, creative riffs and solos mingled on a competent and vigorous rhythm cousin, with a able singer and a interesting gamma of compositions ======================================== CD Review by RENEGADE2K.COM – Brazil This album features interesting hard/heavy songs with good technical sections and shredding neoclassical soloing. Very good debut album. ======================================== Legacy review by RockReunion.com No, this ain't a reunion of the original Testament lineup. Legacy is a band that comprises Marten Andersson (Lizzy Borden, Lynch Mob) on bass guitar, Jonas Hansson (Silver Mountain, Alcatraz, Jonas Hansson Band) on guitar, Chris Roseberry on vocals and Stephan Emig on drums. In case you don't know Jonas Hansson: he was the guitar player of Silver Mountain, the band featuring the Johansson brothers (Yngwie Malmsteen, Hammerfall, Stratovarius etc) on drums and keyboards. As far as I know, Hansson is preparing a new Silver Mountain album with the Johanssons. But let's get back to Legacy. On their 11-track demo, they play straight forward old-school melodic metal. The CD starts with "Troubleshooter", a track that immediately caught my attention due to its incredible bridge. I've seldom heard a track which has a better bridge than verse or chorus. But this one really features a vocal line during the pre-chorus that I cannot get out of my ears. The sound could be described as Yngwie Malmsteen meets Rainbow to play US metal, but with a high singer. Chris Roseberry really has a voice that takes some time to get used to. Sometimes it's very sharp, almost shrill. But I have to stress it once again, the vocal lines of "Troubleshooter" are more than perfect. The next track, "Underdog" is a traditional metal stomper, this time with an only "nice" chorus. "Tool" is too hectic, "Autumn Rising" a good melodic midtempo track, but this time, Roseberry's vocals are really too shrill. During "Leave It Alone" and "Can't Remember Love", he's singing a bit deeper, what a relief! In every case, the compositions of Legacy are much better than the ones of the countless true metal clones, because they are trying to do their own thing. Check out the track "My Last Sunrise" and you know what I mean. Contact: www.legacylive.com. Rating: 8 ======================================== Sweet Suffering Magazine - Germany All the musicians specially the bass player Marten Andersson outdo themselves demonstrating both instrumental mastery and excellent melodic taste. ======================================== CD review by: P. Johnson -The Posten, Sweden- The first and the second tracks are given openers, they go hand in hand, perfect!!! 3rd song "Tool" is terrific, following the ballad "Autumn Rising" (Lay me Down). The CD continues on with some heavy guitars in "Mission of Mercy" preceding the well played "Leave It Alone". My only suggestion would have been to place the instrumental song "Astral Sundown" earlier instead of as a closing song, this is a very good song and would be much better served as the 6th track instead of 10th. "Can't remember Love" and "My Last Sunrise" are rounding off this CD perfect, however, the ultimate ending song on this CD would be in my opinion the instrumental song "2.4.1." That song leaves you with a happy positive feeling, it's the song that will put you in a great mood long after you are done listening to this CD!! ======================================== -Sonja Van Lier - Rock City News- Los Angeles, CA. "Marten is one of the best bassists around." ======================================== Strike Virtual Metal Magazine " I really loved the music from the band and the high standards from the musicians involved" ======================================== Legacy CD Review by Subterránea Magazine "I think the music is great, powerful, energetic and extremely well constructed... A pleasure to the hard prog fans...!! " ======================================== Euphony Music News & Spin City Magazine A very interesting CD to say the least. ======================================== Sea of Tranquility Review Legacy: Legacy All of these guys are seasoned players who know their way around impressive hooks, kick-a** riffs and – plain and simple – decent songwriting. ======================================== Burrn 4.5 out of 5 ======================================== www.legacylive.com
