In early 2002, following a decade working in theatre, Jasmine was first moved to pursue a life in music when encouraged by family, friends, and musical counterparts Michelle Boudreau and David j Taylor (Megan Nash, Despistado, The Fates). Later that year, she recorded her first EP, 8640 Days, a collection of original material produced by David j Taylor (Foley Recordist for the Oscar nominated Wild Life, WCMA Producer of the Year 2007) and performed two tours of Western Canada to support it. It was during one of these tours that Jasmine met and began working with manager/mentor, Lin Elder (The Fates, Jann Arden, Grace Under Pressure). Within a year, the pair recorded a second solo release at the multiple award winning Sundae Sound Recording Studio with Dave Alcock (Chixdiggit, Falconhawk, Chris Gheran ) and Al Irving (Old Reliable, Tariq, Projektor). A year after the pair started working together to develop her songwriting and performance skills, Jasmine was invited to participate in the Alberta Sessions (2004). 2005 saw Jasmine introducing herself to a larger audience by winning Best Newcomer and runner up in the overall Best Song category at the Calgary Folk Music Festival’s Annual Songwriting Contest. She released her winning single, This Girl later that year to critical acclaim. She quickly followed this with Live in Calgary, a live recording by Marco Levesque (NRS, Ironwood) and in 2006, Jasmine released 1:37 am, her first fully produced effort, produced by Craig Newnes (Ralph Boyd Johnson, Ruth Purves-Smith, Souls in Rhythm) and co-produced by Lin Elder. In 2005 and again in 2008, Jasmine was invited to perform at the Nickelodeon Music Club in Calgary and the Northern Lights Folk Club in Edmonton. From 2005 to 2007, Jasmine performed frequently, completing two more small tours of Western Canada, and venturing twice into California, performing in Santa Cruz, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. 2007 highlights included an invitation to perform at the Cochrane Folk Club, the recording of her second appearance at the Alberta Sessions (2006) being presented on CKUA’s Live from Alberta Stages, and her song, Ties that Bind being featured in the documentary, Running Against Crime (cooper rock films). In 2008, she travelled and performed in New Zealand, participated in a live CBC broadcast at the Junos, and continued to play locally. Jasmine also received funding via Rawlco Radio's 10K20 program in Alberta and received invaluable advice and direction from Neil McGonagill (Jann Arden, Steve Pineo, Karla Anderson) during the production of the record that followed, bandaids. From 2009 until present, Jasmine has been busy; producing (with Lin Elder) and recording her latest release bandaids, performing and presenting to primary and secondary school groups, serving as Production Consultant on David j Taylor’s Goodbye Hazel, and doing vocal work for other artists have been highlights. She has shared stages with brilliant artists; Jason Mraz, Ashley MacIsaac, David Francey, Duane Steele, Lynn Miles, Jennifer Berezan, John Boutte, Cris Williamson, Julie Wolf, Rae Spoon, The Fates, Joe Nolan, and Geoff Berner to name a few. She has recorded with award winning producers David j Taylor, Dave Alcock, Al Irving, Marco Levesque, Russell Broom (Jann Arden, SheDaisy, The Dudes) and Miles Wilkinson (Anne Murray, Emmylou Harris, Willie Nelson) and musicians Hank Insell (Jill Paquette, Matt Brouwer, Sheryl Dunn), Mike Thompson (Serena Ryder, Jason Plumb, Dan Silljer), Morag Northey (Tony Bennett, Lyle Lovett, Johnny Mathis), Brigit Knecht (Luciano Pavarotti, K.D.Lang, The Tea Party), Mike Little (Mocking Shadows, BB King), Mark Sterling (Hemingway Corner, Robert Jr. Lockwood, John Hammond), Adam Esposito (The Rippers, Cam Penner, Conrad Walz), Andrew Cull (Urban Divide, Palm and Sago), and Jason Kodie (le Fuzz, Captain Tractor). Jasmine has arranged, performed, and recorded vocals for Calgary’s Amy Bishop (Just Like Her, Elysium) and Clea Roddick (Rollerskate), Regina’s David j Taylor (Goodbye Hazel, Don’t Throw It Away), Lacombe’s Don Swift (unreleased at time of printing), and Red Deer’s Randi Boulton (unreleased at time of printing). She has twice been a guest of CBC’s Key of A, hosted by Katherine Duncan and Tim Tamashiro, respectively. She has also been a two time guest on CKUA Radio, once on Lionel Rault’s Nine to Noon show and once on Tom Coxworth’s Folk Routes. Jasmine is returning to the Canadian music scene this February with the release of her fifth studio recording, bandaids. Produced by Jasmine and Lin Elder, bandaids is a collection of material that tells an emotional, hopeful story of coming to terms with grief, from heartbreak to acceptance. Inspired by recent tragedies in her family, the recording is an intimate view into Jasmine’s life and heart while remaining universally appealing.  She is thrilled to be touring this spring with David j Taylor, among others, and can’t wait to get back to the one thing she has always been passionate about: music.
