The 2014 Western Music Association Female Performer of the Year follows her award winning CD, "Let Me Ride", with a new release that you will love even more. "Down the Trail" features some exciting new original songs from Kristyn, as well as her take on some standards and other rarely heard song gems, all while sharing with you Kristyn's love of the western lifestyle, cattle ranching industry, horses and home state of Texas. From upbeat swing songs to romantic waltzes and beyond, this album takes you on a delightful musical journey that you'll want to play again and again. CD LINER NOTES: 1. Down the Trail to San Antone - A classic that I love, and it soars with Hank Singer’s triple fiddles. Thanks, Sons of the Pioneers. And youtube. 2. Mustang Waltz - Velvet is the mustang mare I adopted from the wild, and the bond we have is illustrated here. Horse/human partnerships are often like a dance…and she happens to be a sucker for waltzes. I am daily grateful for her. Special thanks to Lauralee Northcott, and to Jennifer and Wyatt for inspiration. 3. Travelin’ in My Boots - Music has led my life to moments I never could have imagined and traveled my boots to places I never dreamed they would go. Cindy Walker is a songwriter I revere. Good luck finding me in one place very long… 4. Acres of Nowhere - Here’s my expression of the deeply sad ache and resulting defiance I feel when subdivisions and fast food chains are built on top of cow pasture and farmland that I have always known. My dreams live on Acres of Nowhere. Seriously, I don’t mind visitors, though…just developers. 5. Maiden’s Prayer - Forever one of my favorite Bob Wills tunes! You can’t go wrong with a stellar set of musicians and ‘dig your teeth in’ western swing chord progressions such as this. 6. Thank Heavens for Dale Evans - Whatta lady. Whatta fun song. One of my favorites in live performance, but the band here makes it come alive! “…ain’t nothin’ that’s so bad, that won’t get better if you pick and grin…” Also my Daddy’s favorite. Thanks, Devon Dawson, for your cowgirl-ified rewrite version. 7. When the Bloom is on the Sage - Another classic that I’ve always enjoyed singing…thanks Gene. 8. Diesel and Dust - Inspired somewhat by the very wonderful times I’ve had being on dusty, bumpy roads in diesel rigs with my “ Idaho family” (Grandpa & Magra Moore, John Babb, ‘Kayle, etc)…even when it’s at 5am. I think we could all use more of those moments. 9. Texas and You - Go ahead and ask me where I’m from – I’m always itchin’ to tell! There’s nothing like coming home, especially when that home is in Texas. It was a treat to get to co-write with one of my songwriting heroes, Randy Huston. 10. Guitar Man - Django Reinhart, Eldon Shamblin, Chet Atkins, Merle Travis…some of the finest guitarists to ever exist, who established enduring styles, and their playing sets my blood a’whirl. Rich O’Brien can do it all, as he shows here, and I know his heart thrives on this kind of music. Mine does too. Thanks for inspiring me, Rich. 11. Amazing Grace - I couldn’t hang on without it. My prayer is that you find it, too, and that this recording would speak to your heart. BONUS TRACKS (“Most Requested”) 12. Yodelin’ Fever - As heard on Nickelodeon’s “Figure It Out” , and in nightmares everywhere. First song I ever wrote. 13. I’ve Been Everywhere (in Texas) - Singing it leaves me fairly tongue tied so I’ll just say…a favorite from the stage.
