Paul Chain's music has a genuinely alien, ethereal quality that equally stems from his explorative naivety and a taste for evocative tone and structure, resulting in a almost mystical sound which stands out from its era and has since fed forward into contemporary doom music, Sunn 0))) and Stephen O'Malley included. Recorded between 1981-84 and released in 1989 for the first time, this is music which seems to exist in a void, casting a lonely shadow layered and lifted into the ether with a subtle nervous energy that is at once unnerving and blissful. Waves of mesmerising organ layer and accumulate a dark, wyrd energy, enhanced by the impenetrable clouds of weird vocals within the course of a movement.. There was nobody quite like Paul Chain, that's for sure!
