简介
Ebonivory brings their signature brand of progressive metal and punk vibes to the forefront of the Australian music scene with their debut album The Only Constant released August, 2015 via independent label Secondhand Sound. "We're proud of what we've done with our sound so far, but we needed to push it further this time, it needed to be bigger for what we're trying to communicate" says the band. The Only Constant is the follow up to the band's previous EP release Ebonivory I, and aims to strike out to a more individual sound, a unique blend of modern prog, punk and metal, it will be the band's first full studio release along with label Secondhand Sound. "We want this to be unique, there's so much out there right now to take from that we took a little inspiration from all of it, we want this to be something new, something really familiar, but also really distant, which is kind of thematic across the album, musically and lyrically." Ebonivory formed in early 2014 as Charlie Powlett, Dylan Volk, Louis Edwards, Jake Crawford and Joeseph Zreikat, and after releasing their debut EP and gigging sporadically Ebonivory came in from the local spotlight to reform and rewrite. Shortly after work had begun on The Only Constant guitarists Joeseph Zreikat and Louis Edwards made the difficult decision to leave the band due to full-time study commitments and new guitarists Hamish McDonough and Jake Ewings were brought in to fill the gap. A reinvigorated musical repitoire and work ethic pushed the band to make this release, and their live show the best it's ever been. The Only Constant takes exciting new thematic and progressive steps, it pushes the rhythmic boundaries of progressive metal into punk, it pushes the driving sound of punk into prog and it doesn't hold hands while it shifts from one paradigm to the next.
