简介
Krishna Black Eagle is an international artist with mixed heritage: Cherokee Indian, black American and Danish. His mixed origins led him to create his own brand of cutting-edge rock based on acoustic and electric guitars, haunted by Cherokee Indian chant. His charismatic personality and his impressive soulful voice flying through five octaves make him an impressive performer with good songs at his base. His live show is dynamic, stirring and utterly captivating; he takes the audience into a buoyant musical mood, anywhere in the world, as lately in the UK playing as a support for Elton John. He grew up between New York and Copenhagen and started his career in Denmark where he first enjoyed success as rock composer and then as a guitar player. He has toured USA, Canada and Europe. Living in different places (New-York, L.A, London, Madrid, Paris and Copenhagen) gave him a wide view that obviously fed his musical inspiration. While retracing the steps of his Cherokee ancestors near Atlanta, GA., he reconnected with the soul of his people that lived in harmony with nature. This trip back to his origins enhanced the power and the sensitivity of his musical expression. You can hear it through songs like "Phoenix rising" released as a single." Krishna is not from your everyday mould, because his music has so many elements of sound that make it unique and exciting ... a sensitive, outstanding performer with good, solid songs as it base, and the only the sky is the limit for him". The Village Voice, NYC." Krishna has a maximum vocal range "Krishna is an incredible new rock artist from the USA but currently touring in France and the U.K. He is a traditional American Indian and this reflects in his music which is a poweful mix of proper American rock, blues and folk with some early Adam and the ants thrown in for good measure. It also dabbles in folk and reminds us of Bruce Springsteen and Tom petty in a small way. Excellent from the heart powerful moving anthemic and chanting rock from a true spirit" - Matchbox Radio 24. Dale Olivier from Matchbox Recordings interviewed the man himself. 1. What made you decide to embark on a career in music ? Tell us a bit about your history to date ? It's something I always felt I wanted to do since I was a kid. I started by playing guitar. I left school very early to work delivering newspapers in the morning to buy my first guitar « Fender Mustang » and formed my first rock band in Copenhagen (Denmark) where my parents and I lived at the time. We got very popular. Then I started singing by accident when at a gig the singer didn't show up. Then I moved back to New York form my own band and perform all over the US and Canada. Back to Europe where I lived and toured for few years in Spain, France and the UK where I did some support concerts for Elton John. 2. Who or what are your influences ? Most of the artists of the 60's, 70's and some 80's; It was a very creative and exciting time for Rock and Soul music. But, the artists that really got me started when I was a kid was Jimmi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin. 3. What modern artists do you like? ??? ( We think this means he doesn't like any new artists and we understand why. How could any of them live up to his legend - Ed ) 4. Is Krishna your real name ? If not what is it ? Yes, Krishna is my real name. My parents where into Eastern Indian Philosophy before I was born. And specially because of the racial tension in the USA at the time they decided to take a trip to India. But they never made it. So they called their first son Krishna. 5. What inspires you to write your music/lyrics ? I don't really think about it. It's something that comes naturally sometimes when I play my guitar and sing. 6. Name your all time fave track by another band/artist ? I don't really have any favorite tracks from any artist. They are so many songs that I like. No favorite. 7. What sort of sound can we expect from your forthcoming album ? Soulful vocals, a lot of guitars and native american vibes. My own brand of cutting edge rock. 8. What are your ambitions for your music. Where do you see yourself in 5 years ? I hope to perform my music successfully all over the world for a long time. 9. How would you describe your music and what genre do you think it fits into ? I never think of where my music fits into. It's just something that I feel. That comes from inside. It's really my own brand of rock « Cherokee Rock ». 10. Where is your forthcoming album being recorded and who is producing ? My album « Phoenix rising » was recorded at Balik Musik farm Studio in the Hillsof Switzerland near Zurich with engineer and co-producer Alex Bolle and a great team of musicians. 11. Are you a real American Indian ? Tell us a bit about your upbringing ? Yes, I'm Cherokee Native american. But I also have some black and danish blood. I rediscovered my Cherokee origins when I went back on a trip near Atlanta, Georgia and met people from the tribs. That really inspired me a lot. Here I took the name « Black Eagle ». You can hear the inspiration on songs like « Phoenix Rising » and « Middle Ground » from my album. I spent my all life travelling around USA and Europe. I never stay in one place for very long which also inspired me. 12. Will you be playing touring in the U.K ? I'll soon be back in the UK for some concerts for the release of my album « Phoenix Rising. Look out for me in March at the Carling Academy in London and more. "like James Brown at his best ... to see him on stage is a revelation. His powerful voice rips through the air and makes his whole body shake. He can't sing without dancing" KEYBOARD MAGAZINE The sound of Krishna Black Eagle harks back to the bad old days when male vocalists were rough and wild, and a song wasn’t a song without a solo break and a heavy, repetitive chorus. Krishna recently supported Elton John to a 22,000 strong audience and received rave reviews in the press.
