As owner of San Francisco Bay Area label, Rhythm Records, in the 1950s, pro-basketball-star-turned-businessman Don Barksdale recorded more than five-dozen sides with notable and obscure Bay Area talent—R&B, blues, and doo-wop. This collection, one of three compilations in our ‘Rhythm label’ series, focuses on Barksdale’s doo-wop and vocal group harmony sides.
