简介

14 year old Gal Musette from San Clemente, California began writing songs a couple years ago. Never having had any music lessons, she was driven to write music in great part due to her love for Stephin Merritt and the Magnetic Fields (as well as the music she loved from the classic movies she learned from her Grandfather, i.e. Bing Crosby, Doris Day, Frank Sinatra, Irving Berlin, etc.). In honor of the Magnetic Fields amazing album 69 Love Songs, she decided to write and record “70 Love Songs”. Somewhere around song 20, Gal contacted the Magnetic Fields through a fan page to share what she was doing. Claudia Gonson, - manager, pianist and vocalist with the Magnetic Fields responded. Since this time, Claudia and Gal have corresponded back and forth and have developed what Gal considers a very special friendship. Gal Musette was offered a few opening spots to support the Magnetic Fields, and Gal also recently started as a freshman at San Clemente High School. In the meantime, Gal continues to write and record working toward song 70, which she hopes will be a duet with Stephin Merritt. Brent Samson, 23, plays guitar, percussions, sings, is Gal’s best friend, and completes the duo. All songs are recorded at Stage One Studies in Lake Forest, California with her producer and Godfather Robert Elfaizy, and proudly Gal will explain that all songs are recorded in about 2 hours. Once complete, 70 Love Songs will be released (currently all the songs recorded are demo versions and available to listen to at SoundCloud page http://soundcloud.com/gracief). A CD is now available of a collection of 15 of the songs! There is one other factor that should not be overlooked, as writer Neil Gaiman (Coraline, Sandman, et al.) recently tweeted “…and the Weird Thing Is, She Is Really Good.” Anyone coming to see her, or listen to her music is in for a special treat. Perhaps a preview of something special to come for the indie world of tomorrow. The music has been described as haunting, melodic, and timeless.
