简介
Let me explain just a little bit about this song and where I'm coming from with it... I went north of La Ronge, Saskatchewan on a fishing trip organized by GiANT Partners (Edmond, Oklahoma). This was my second year to join the “CEOs on the Lake” expedition led by David Woods. As I began to synthesize the trip, a strong theme of "serving the Lord in our work" began to emerge for me. Primarily I turn the credit of this to the incredibly inspiring stories of our friends Dick Greenly (Water4) and Dr. Rick Kopke (Hough Ear Institute). When the two of them shared with us as a group about their work to solve the world water crisis and to cure deafness, it really set a tone for the whole thing. So with the song, I wanted to try to capture the idea of water and hearing in the spiritual sense (John 4:14 and Matthew 11:15). And at the same time, due to the extraordinarily beautiful weather, I was captivated by the "clean air" and the way a trip like this can purify the heart and restore the mind. I journaled about that the first night in my cabin. The opening line for this song, along with the melodic material, came to me at the final shore lunch that we all shared together (an image from that day is on the cover). I broke away from the group to enjoy a few moments of solitude, and I walked back to camp along the beach of that little island. The inspiration hit for the song, and I quickly pulled out my iPhone to made a voice recording. The rest of the song came that evening, and was nearly completed by the time I got home.
