About the Artist: Njeri Earth Njeri was born in the hometown of Soul music, Detroit, Michigan. Her love of music was influenced early by her father who was also a songwriter and musician. Njeri graduated from Cass Technical Highschool in Detroit, Michigan, where she delved further into the science of music as a Vocational Music Major for 4 years, playing flute and percussion in the concert band, singing in the choir, as well as studying piano, which sparked her love for beat making. Njeri also performed in Cass Tech’s Performing Arts Guild, learning useful acting skills which will prove themselves useful years later. The release of Wu Tang Clansman GZA/Genius’ album, “Beneath the Surface” in June 1999 marked Njeri’s formal introduction into the Hip Hop world. She co-wrote and performed on back to back tracks, “1112\" and “Victim” more than holding her own with veteran rappers. In August 1999 she performed on the Detroit leg of GZA’s “Beneath the Surface” tour. Residing off of 8 Mile Rd. In Detroit, it was only fitting that in 2001 Njeri was selected for a speaking role in the Hip Hop film “8 Mile”. Njeri performed her own lyrics, adorned in a 3/4ths length skirt and hair wrap, as the “3rd Parking Lot Rapper” in the movie’s “Cipher” scene. Gaining inquisitive fans world-wide, Njeri released her first solo album \"Supa Sista\" in 2005 on her own independent label, Earth\'s Rotation Records. Njeri continued recording as well as performing. She has graced audiences with her lyrics all throughout the Detroit area at venues such as Cobo Hall, St. Andrews Hall, Hart Plaza, the State Theater, the Loading Dock and many others. Njeri Earth’s performance experience includes the Wet Lands in New York as well as several performances at the Harriet Tubman school in Harlem for the Nation of God’s and Earth’s “Show and Prove”. Njeri has also performed and was well received in Atlanta, Indiana, and Canada. 2007 marked a sort of rebirth for Njeri. She spent the beginning of the year speaking with and teaching young artists the importance of maintaining a message and keeping originality in their music.
