简介
This exquisite project opens with the splendor of the African diaspora with the first 7 tracks featuring uplifting and monologues, poems, and narratives by various writers. Le Washitaw (by Philip Welch) is a 12-movement dramatic work based on a libretto that features an indigenous Black empire: Washitaw de Dugdamoundyah. The music is comprised of old and new works that provides a flow of time periods associated with the libretto. Acoustic and electronic instrumental production creates an eclectic journey of musical intrigue and drama at its best. Gloria Winters-Anderson is a brilliant and versatile actress, who has worked extensively in the arts community in her native Mississippi. As a playwright, she has composed scripts that provide outlets for young inspiring actors. In addition to her starring in productions, Gloria has been a feature in local and national film projects. Her catalog of voice-overs and commercials for radio and television expand 3 decades. Philip Welch (producer) enjoys exploring and producing indigenous, classical, and commercial music idioms. For over 20 years, he has engaged music as a performer nationally and abroad. His music background and wide range of experiences create a unique approach to music production. Welch’s present interests include creating initiatives to preserve art, archeological research, meshing the old and new together. Roy "Futureman" Wooten is a fantastic percussionist, composer, and inventor. His music on this recording is simply brilliant and full of life that is evident in all of his music making with the Grammy Award winning Flecktones, and his Phi-HarmonicTM Orchestra, His most influential contribution to music may prove to be his work as an inventor. His first invention, called the Drumitar, employs crystals to enhance the sensitivity and control of each note, using his fingers as drumsticks. Enjoy his original instrumentals and arrangements on several of the tracks! SPECIAL THANKS to Dr. Umar Bey for research and granting permission to use excerpts from The Return of the Ancient Ones-Washitaw Files. Produced by Philip Welch
