简介
Los Angeles trio Indradevi injects a dose of Southeast Asia into their untamed style of electronic music. Drum & bass, ambient house and industrial rock mingle with gongs, bells and lyrics sung in both English and Khmer. Cambodian-born vocalist Rumany discovered her passion for singing as a child in a Thai refugee camp shortly before immigrating to the United States in the 1980's. Following their debut album A Thousand Tomorrows, and a successful club tour of Southeast Asia, Indradevi set to work crafting their latest EP. Wake From the Poison Dream drips with atmosphere, beginning with "The Sun Will Light Your Grave," a Trent Reznor-esque burst of industrial grit infused with traditional Cambodian sounds. The Shocking Blue's 1968 garage rock classic "Send Me a Postcard" enjoys a high-octane drum & bass reboot guaranteed to spark a stampede toward the dancefloor. Then Max Romeo & Lee Scratch Perry's 1976 reggae anthem "Chase the Devil" goes deep, dark and seductive in this downtempo cover fit for a slow motion space walk. Deadmau5 meets Ladytron meets Cambodia in "River Song," an emotional vocal-driven journey through rain-soaked landscapes and memories.
