Cyclic, a modern alternative rock band from Buenos Aires, formed in early 2007. Its music and sound highlight influences from the 70s and 90s mainly, of strong character, with rocking riffs, warm and dark scenes and a very modern aesthetic sense. Music worthy of being heard, that, in its diversity somehow synthesize the spirit of the “alternative”. Their influences vary from Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, The Who, and Jimi Hendrix to The Pixies, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, The White Stripes and Queens of the Stone Age. During the initial stage, they devoted their time to composing and recording their first album which occurred among sessions in which about 30 songs were produced. Production, recording, post-production, mixing and mastering of all recorded material were always carried out independently and almost entirely at the band’s home-studio. Cyclic’s debut album, titled homonymously, contains 12 songs that throughout an intricate story deal with the inherent nature of human beings in their daily struggle to fit in a modern society that has abandoned the very “being” and has adopted virtuality as a way of relationships. The character that appears repeatedly on several tracks of the album, such as Wonderland, Disturbed and Brother, debates his experiences with an alternate “self” that pushes him hard over the edge to break any structure, driving him to the brink of insanity. However, he understands, in the end, that even in the greatest pain you can find beauty; and that true love and its timelessness are the strongest weapon against the fear of uncertainty and death.
