Everything started in 2009, when a couple of younglings who go by the names of Jhefferson and Guilherme, or more commonly and to the more intimate, "Chyn" and "Mello" or simply "Gui", respectively, decided they wanted to follow the footsteps of others before them and make music which they enjoyed and others might too. They had the will to change the world with their music, a guitar and a drum set, but something was missing.. of course, a bass guitar and a player! For that the quickly recruited a good friend of Chyn's, Jair, AKA "Sher" ... this was the first ever formation of the band. After awhile playing and developing their sound, Sher decided to quit the band, George Knopp was called up and took over the bassist position, tracking a few songs which are featured in our debute album.. but shortly after this happened, the band entered an indefinite hiatus. Time went by, Chyn and Mello dedicated themselves to other projects, met up with new people, all of which always told them they were very sad to see the band Open gone.. everybody enjoyed them and their music and gave them a lot of support during this time. One of the band's all-time biggest supporter is friend and producer Jonas Godoy, who saw the 2 boys grow and develop their songs, as they would rehearse at Jonas's newly founded studio and rehearse space, Linha Sonora. Fast forward a couple of years.. 2015.. Chyn and Mello got together and decided it was time - Open should return. Once again, they needed a bassist... a few options were tried, including their previous bass player, George.. however, because of many outside factors, it wasn't viable. This is where Alexandre Tatto, or simply "Tatto" came into the picture. Tatto already played with Mello on a side project and was already good friends with both Chyn and Mello.. Fortunately, Tatto had just left his previous band and was available to fill in the band's position. After a couple of meetings and some talking, Open had a new bass player! Right after that, and with the support of many and the desire to make music and record again, the trio went in the studio once more to track a couple more songs and finally release their long waited EP. Cidade Vazia is the culmination of the will of two people, who despite many hiccups along the way, stayed true to their beliefs and wills of making music. We are very happy with what we've done and we hope that people can relate to our songs, making it their own.. we hope that the melody of our music, the lyrics, the harmony, can reach out to each and everyone who listens and have a positive influence in their lives.
