Beginning in 1999, murder mystery is a blend of influences from The Fall, Pavement, Sebadoh, and the Velvet Underground (from where the group got its name) gathered to form a sound creation that barrels through with impassioned delivery. The bands roots lie in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, where in 1999 they began. Drawing heavily on Detroit based groups, like the MC5 and Mitch Ryder as well as indie rock fundamentals, the band recorded several EP's before relocating to Detroit. As the group began a more determined approach towards practicing and songwriting they also began conversations with and signed to DetroitSounds' Records. This--their first release on DetroitSounds'--showcases a band with a strong future.
