简介
Russ Franzen is a Great Lakes Balladeer who writes and sings songs that tell the stories that make up the history of the Great Lakes. The songs on Great Lakes Waters are dedicated to the many volunteers who keep the history of the lighthouses along the Great Lakes alive. The lighthouses featured on this album, Crisp Point, Mission Point, McGulpin Point, and St. Helena Island, were in danger of destruction but have been lovingly restored. Likewise, volunteers have kept baseball alive at "The Park at the Corner", the site of Detroit's Tiger Stadium. "The Griffin", the first Lake Boat, and the famous mail boat, JW Westcott II ("Mail By The Pail") are featured. "Great Lakes Waters" celebrates the importance of the Great Lakes to our country's commerce and way of life. "The Keeper of the Light" comes from an account of a female lightkeeper at an island lighthouse. "Pet Rocks to the Rescue" is the story of the 1977 Pet Rock Revolt in Grand Marais, Michigan. "Tragedy and Triumph" The story of the 1966 wreck of the Daniel J. Morrell and her sole survivor, Dennis Hale.
