One of the most exciting new talents to arise out of the conscious dancehall movement reggae scene, Ijah Iba began his career as one of the popular professional soccer players emerging out of Jamaica, given the opportunity and having the skills, he was being scouted to try out for the World Cup of 1998, as he was one of the top prospects coming up, known to many as “Tati” in the soccer world and in his high school days at Frome Technical High School, where he also began singing with fellow school mates, and is now progressing as one of Canada's most astonishing performers, armed with a rich voice full of emotion, he is destined for international stardom. He stays true to his image and makes sure the quality of his music maintains a standard, considering the amount of recordings of songs he gets done, all the more impressive given the frequency with which he records his music. A versatile sing-jay style vocalist with a unique tone of voice, he is capable of both rapid-fire chanting as well as powerful , yet smooth, melodic singing. Ijah Iba was born July 26, 1977 in Grange Hill, a small town off Jamaica' s tourist track and near the island's mountainous "cockpit country”, a large agricultural and farming area. He crafted poetic like lyrics with socio-political importance, but the renegade sounds of Bob Marley , Ijah Man Levi, and Peter Tosh did not escape his notice as he draws public attention in his music to struggle, poverty and injustice to his people. And, along the road to stardom and growing up, Ijah Iba found religion. He became a spiritual Rastafarian, growing dreadlocks and ganja worship as part of the tradition. He is the son of a multi-talented Rasta father, who brought Ijah around the music world since the early age of 6, as his father was involved in the music industry as well as radio. The Rastafarian faith is based on the life of the self-proclaimed son of God, Haile Selassie, ruler of Ethiopia. Ijah incorporates light dancehall, conscious roots reggae, hip hop fusion as well as combining soulful vocals with DJ-ing skills. Ijah uses the music he makes as vehicle for his positive music, by uplifting others and delivering positive messages. Natural music talent mixed with a passionate performance, and the ability to charm a crowd, he has been just increasing his buzz. Since landing in Canada in 2001, Ijah Iba quickly found a home with a reggae band hailing from Montreal city. With his unique style of singing and positive energy that he brings to the stage each and every time, Ijah had taken some time off of the music scene to perfect his sound only to come back in full force. In early August 2008, Ijah Iba signed with the independent recording label DPC Movements Records, who are on a coast 2 coast music movement that launched Ijah’s music from heavy local radio rotation in Montreal, Toronto, and all the way to the U.K.(BBC RADIO),Silver Fox Radio, live Jamaican radio as well as hot 97 Svg and even parts of the USA. Among Ijah Iba’s highlight’s since signing with his label includes opening for T.O.K. , Tarrus Riley(3x),Mr. Vegas, Spragga Benz, Elephant Man, Glen Washington, Barrington Levy, Tanya Stephens, Anthony B., Capleton, Little Hero, Mikey Dangerous, Duane Stephenson , Beenie Man, Sanchez, George Nooks, Charly Black, Jah Vinci, Busy Signal among others. In the summer of 2k9, Ijah sweeped major festivals such as Montreal International Reggae festival, Ottawa Int’l Reggae festival, Jamaica day 2009/2010 and Mtl Int'l Reggae Fest 2011 where he completely dominted alongside Gyptian, Wayne Wonder, Beres Hammond, Exco Levi and more. His debut mixtape was released October 15th 2011, entitled "World Inna Stress" Hosted by Legendary Dj Kirky C from Poison Dart Sound, which is still buzzing hard due to added help from Shadyville Caribbean, Dancehall Usa Mag, Riddim Stream Marketing, as well as numerous popular jamaican sites across the net, paired with heavy production on the mixtape, coming out of Montreal, Jamaica, Guadaloupe/Martinique, The States and more! Ijah Iba is in the process of writing a book of which he has already gotten offers to publish, as well as potential more acting opportunities to add to his portfolio as he has already played a pivotal role in a movie already.
