Growing up in rural town of Grange Hill in Westmoreland Ijah Iba was drawn to music from a very early age. “I guess you could say that I was drawn into the arts from a very tender age. I began writing and singing when I was a very small child. Most of my influence came from my father who is a skilled painter and sculptor. He use to listen to a lot of good music from artistes like Bob Marley and Peter Tosh.” Since those early days the soft spoken Deejay who played Dacosta Cup football for his Alma mater Frome Technical High School in the mid-1990s has come a long way musically. After moving to Montreal, Canada in 2001 he launched his music career. In 2008 he signed with an independent label called DPC Movements Records in Montreal. Under the guidance of DPC’s CEO Linkcon Prezzy Demetrius Ijah Iba has grown to become one of the most exciting acts on the Canadian Reggae scene. “Working with DPC has helped me to develop as an artiste in many ways. The label has also helped me to establish my career on the Canadian music scene. Now we are working towards establishing my name in other markets around the world including the Caribbean, the UK, Europe, the US and Japan.” Ijah Iba is currently promoting the music video for his latest single titled Want It. The video which was directed by Fatty Soprano in Montreal and produced by Driven Paper Films, has been released in several territories including Canada, the US, Europe and the Caribbean.
