I wrote this song after a blind date that pretty much went nowhere from the beginning. I had already finished recording "Lovers and Other Kinds of Monsters", and wanted to write something that was a bit more subdued and sparse. After trying the song on piano, it didn't feel right, so after a week of instrumental experimentation, I found the slide guitar to be the perfect fit!
