Many of the songs are inspired by feelings from personal experiences and situations. Add that with AJ's love of blues and the product is pure self expresion. Instead of going the traditional blues route, the songs worked out a completely different than what was originally intended. Accompanying AJ, is a list of fine musicians from a close knit community and personal friends that were well suited for the project, of whom a few songs were co-written from many of the jam sessions that would transpire. Most of the songs from this album are reworked versions of many of the hit-and-miss riffs that would come out of these sessions, with lyrics being eventually written for them. Sometimes a lengthy process. For a couple songs it took a few years for a new incarnation to be fully prepared. The center focuses of this project remain to be truth, passion, peace, relief, and humility. During the period when many of the lyrics were in the process of being written, this is what settled on AJ's heart the most. This leads to the title of the album. "Nuthin' But A Man" is the affirmation that mankind is not alone and we are all not different from one another. A humble expressin of humanity. We share life.
