简介
Benjamin Jude is a worship leader and music minister based in Saint Louis, Missouri. He began as a self-taught guitarist and pianist at the age of 14, engaging in late-night Church-carpark songwriting sessions and leading moonlit prayer groups on Friday nights. His Roman Catholic faith took root at Incarnate Word Life Teen, where he became good friends with fellow Catholic singer/songwriter Adam Bitter. It was through the many profound worship experiences as Music Minister of Queen of All Saints Life Teen in Saint Louis that Jude began writing original worship music after ten years. His début release, "The Light EP", features three songs recorded live at the gorgeous Saint Louis Abbey, and brings a soulful acoustic rawness to the worship experience. Jude's sophomore release and first full-length album, "The Fire In Me" harkens in many moments to his alt rock past. The dirty-guitar-driven "Kingdom (Like a Child)" aptly advocate a return to one's childlike faith as expressed in Luke 18, while the grungy re-casting of Kathryn Scott's classic worship hymn "Hungry (Falling On My Knees)" and the drum-heavy, operatic "Calm These Waters" both cry out in an unbridled and unfettered dependence on the Lord's strength and mercy. "The Fire In Me" also offers moments of quiet reflection and meditation. The opening track, "Only Delight" presents a sincere and total offering of oneself to the Lord's glory, whereas "Heart Ever Answer" brings the listener to contemplate the sacrificial love of the Sacred Heart and cry out "may my heart ever answer yours". Finally, the anthematic "Flicker", featuring Adam Bitter, and the concluding track, "We Fix Our Eyes On You", present a hauntingly moving congregational energy that reminds the listener of Jude's roots as a songwriter and worship leader.
