Recorded at Tiny Telephone studios in 2000, 2001's Winterval was the opening salvo for the Oakland band known as Replicator. Engineered by Mr. Bob S. Weston IV (Polvo, Archers of Loaf, Sebadoh, etc), the Sometimes silly, sometimes deadly serious, Replicator's debut album varies from raucus driving rock to melodic ponderous works. RIYL-A Minor Forest, noisier Nirvana stuff, fugazi It was followed by the "" ep in 2002, the "lost" DDBBLLVVZZNN ep with Lower Forty-Eight in 2003, "You Are Under Surveillance" on Substandard in 2004, "Machines Will Always Let You Down" in 2007, and "Whangbar Province" in 2008. Replicator had been steadily playing successful shows in and around the bay area, west coast and US from late 1999 to 2008. They have worked towards creating a solid fan base, in a supportive community of fantastic ‘outsider’ bands, in the creatively fertile bay area, based on a combination of great songs and exciting live performance.
