Straddling the fine line between technical precision and reckless abandon, social commentary and smartass revelry, Replicator endeavoured to bring something unique and worthwhile to the overall culture of this independent music thing while somehow managing to overcome the signal to noise ratio of vapid defanged post punk disco retreads and the latest astroturf “garage band” fad with the marketing dollars of the cool hunting multinational corporations. Released in 2002, on the Feedbackloop Industries label, the "" ep had no title, was not called untitled, and was not self titled. It simply had no name. This obviously went over very well. A followup to the first album "Winterval", the "" ep was a precursor to the more abrasive and expansive sound that was to come, as well as the first appearence of both keyboards and samples. Recorded at Mr. Toad’s by bassist/keyboardist/recording engineer Ben Adrian, It was followed by the “lost” DBBLLVVZZNN split release with the band Lower Forty-Eight, then “You Are Under Surveillance”, in 2004 won Substandard Records and "Machines Will Always Let You Down" and "Whangbar Province" on Radio is Down in 2007 and 2008. Replicator had been steadily playing successful shows in and around the bay area, west coast and US from late 1999 to 2008. They have worked towards creating a solid fan base, in a supportive community of fantastic ‘outsider’ bands, in the creatively fertile bay area, based on a combination of great songs and exciting live performance. In other words, substance over style, every time. the "" ep marked the beginning of Replicator as a touring band and was a precursor of the savage noiserock beast that was to come.
