"What's your song about?" Hash Tag Baby is a song that was inspired by Donald Trump aka The Twitter-In-Chief. "Who's Johnny Pierre?" I'm an American songwriter who's been active on the Long Island music scene for the past 40 years. In 1976, I settled in the Long Island area of New York and was working as the lead singer-rhythm guitarist of the legendary LI rock combo, the Freelance Vandals; a band which was renowned for playing a lot of original material. During my Freelance Vandals years, the band opened shows for such notable artists as John Hiatt, Dr. John, NRBQ, Paul Butterfield, Rick Danko and Albert King. The Freelance Vandals also received accolades in such publications as The New York Times, Creem, Newsday, Variety, The Hollywood Press, Billboard and Cashbox. With regards to my music, my main obsession continues to be songwriting. My creative goal as a songwriter is to create modernistic songs which capture the immediacy of old time blues & rock n' roll. "Johnny Pierre simultaneously inhabits the roles of slightly unhinged frontman and back-room writer immersed in song craft.
