简介
Songs about war. Songs about love. Fascination. Infatuation. Saying goodbye and crashing the scene. Expanding minds in Montparnasse. Loosened license and a little thing about Pedro, the medal aspirant. This is "Passion of the loose cannon, with remarks," recorded in Missa Studios (Young's basement) and mixed and mastered at Coupe Studios in Boulder, Colo., by Greg McRae (Yonder Mountain String Band, DeVotchKa, Flobots). The album features excerpts of interviews with characters connected to the band, including Rats Martin, Veronica Sedgwick, Montgomery S. Littenburg III, Shawn Riley and Vinny “The Island” Borelli. This follows Young’s previous full-length release, the searching “Do-si-do for your girl,” and his earlier “High Stakes Man Going Down,” featuring the title song, a staple of the live show, and the ballad “Huddie Ledbetter Done Been Here and Gone.” Young plays electric guitar and bare picks a 12-string acoustic guitar tuned down two whole steps to a C. As a songwriter, he assembles words that stand as stories, poems, provocations, verbal paintings and lexical explorations. The Huntington, NY, native has performed with numerous Colorado acts, including The Flood, Meadowlark Jivin’ and the Liz Barnez Band. The Quentin Young Band formed in the summer of 2008 in the garage behind Young’s Denver home. It includes Shawn Riley on bass, Keith Conant on drums and Chris Outcalt on rhythm guitar. The band performs in and around Denver, including at such venues as The Larimer Lounge, Herman’s Hideaway, Toad Tavern, Owsley’s, Dulcinea’s 100th Monkey, The Meadowlark and Cervantes' The Other Side.
