简介
Jay Denton is a true songwriter and artist. Known for cutting his own path both lyrically and musically, Run With Me, is an upbeat and moving breath of fresh air in the pop/rock and folk/rock scene. Starting with a bang, "Begins Right Here" pulses with energy and a catchy commercial sound that transitions seamlessly into the poetic, metaphorical energy of "Run WIth Me". With roots in all three cities he has lived in, you can hear the soul of his Texas roots, the dynamic energy of Los Angeles, and the well crafted song structure of his current home, Nashville. Denton is not one to pull a punch, and that becomes very apparent in "Man With An Open Hand" which is certainly the rock anthem of the album. Jay is actually a street fighting instructor alongside his music career, and sometimes you can see that alter-ego slip into his lyrics and tone. "Say goodbye to the impostor. Say goodbye to the fake. Say Goodbye to the settlements we make" sing like one who has faced plenty of struggle of his own, and isn't afraid to step into the edgy - both in sound and lyric. The softer side of the record kicks in abruptly with the longing ballad of loss, "Again", and the sweet romantic groove of "Waterfall". These final two songs of the record also carry a much more acoustic core and soulful vocal style. Though always known for his eclectic writing and arrangement, Denton's sound still has a cohesiveness that is the sign of one who has settled into his own as an artist. The versatility that he possesses without compromising his signature sound demonstrates a potential that will keep this young artist relevant for years and years to come.
