简介

Somewhere in Charleston March 2008 “What do you think of the singer?” Two guys sitting in a bar, one eating, the other, sipping a beer. The bar is in Charleston: a good bar with descent beer, good food, and live music. “What do you think of the singer?” The drinker asked the diner. “She is good”, replied the other. Five minutes later the singer makes her way towards the beer drinker, exchanges a few words and the beer is abandoned as he heads of in the direction of the stage. In his place sits the singer, having a 5 minute break. “Hi, how ya doing?” She asked the diner. “Doing well, thanks” is the reply. And with that a partnership is born. The singer Virginia Grey, the diner Kenny Wilson. Except for those 5 minutes, a continent or an ocean has always separated the two. Kenny was travelling and Virginia singing, which is what she does best. Kenny from Scotland, Virginia from North Carolina. However the often ‘let’s swap E-mails’ was in this case followed up by mails being sent and answered. Very soon a transatlantic friendship was thriving with a joint interest in music and other things (That being, Hibernian F.C., Edinburgh’s classiest football/soccer team) becoming established. “Lets do some songs together,” suggested Virginia in one mail and, what you have in your hand or are hopefully listening to, is the result. They hope you like them. Thoughts from Alaska A song about being tired, missing someone, but feeling alive for all that. A song about beholding a view with no one else to share it with. A song about being alone and standing beside an empty road somewhere between B.C. Canada and Alaska and just staring at one of natures most wonderful sights, a glacier. Someone else should have been there. Only in a dream It’s a cliché; the pauper and the prince, the tramp and the lord, they swap lives and everyone is happy. This song takes it a little further, a little deeper, even a little darker. Who is the dreamer and who only lives in the dream, and does it matter? They can meet each other only in a dream and in the morning they must part again.
